At this point in the year, fresh off Black Friday’s deals, I’m often reminded that modern Americans suffer from what writers David Wann and Thomas Naylor have called Affluenza.
Spending this year of 2024 with a cancer diagnosis and using all of my savings to stay afloat only to run out now brings me to a place I can only hope Jesus's words will sustain me. Thank you for your writing this morning it is substance for my soul. He has brought me to a very perplexing place yet I resonate with the Ravens and Lillies for survival in my time of complete surrender to God's mercy and grace with Jesus as my hope.
Amen, Mark. All of us suffer from this disease in some way, shape, or form. Unfortunately, our egos almost demand the “more”. More recognition, more importance, more esteem, etc. But when we pause in contemplation, as you said, we realize it’s all an illusion. None of it is necessary to enjoy or live life to its fullest.

Janet, thanks for sharing your comment - and I'm praying for you in this time of surrender.
Many thanks.
